Court & Mediation Preparation

90-min private sessions · Role play
Coach and client reviewing court documents together at a desk, preparing strategy for a custody hearing or mediation

If you've ever been to court or mediation, you know how stressful it can be. If your co-parent exhibits narcissistic or high-conflict personality traits, it can quickly become your worst nightmare, and you may end up looking like the high-conflict personality if you're not properly prepared.

It's important to learn how to disengage from conflict in court or mediation, how to respond to false allegations, and how to present with a calm and amenable demeanor. Coach Michelle role-plays specific activating scenarios to keep you focused and poised, whether you have an attorney or not.

"Michelle's prep for my custody hearing was the single most useful hour of the entire case. I stopped defending and started answering."
  • Disengaging from conflict in legal settings
  • Responding calmly to false allegations
  • Maintaining emotional regulation under pressure
  • Projecting credibility to judges, evaluators, and mediators
  • Understanding the court's dynamics and what moves the record
  • Organizing and presenting evidence effectively
*Coach Michelle does not practice family law. She often works hand-in-hand with the client's attorney.

"
After being summoned to appear in court by my high-conflict co-parent, I engaged Michelle's team to compile OFW, email, and text messages and prepare a factual statement for the courts. This comprehensive document clearly demonstrated the pattern of high-conflict behavior which I was able to use to support my defense.

Michelle was recommended to me by my attorney as I'm facing a high-conflict divorce. As we have two beautiful girls, I signed up for the course as I needed to ensure I do my part to minimize unnecessary conflict. The course and your suggestions have been incredibly helpful, especially since I've never navigated a situation like this before.

Michelle was instrumental in helping me navigate a high-conflict divorce where the mother of my young children chose to have very little contact with the kids for almost nine months. I highly recommend you hire Michelle as your coach — I am very confident it will be one of the smartest decisions you will make.

How is this different from working with my attorney?
Your attorney handles legal strategy. We handle behavioral preparation: how you sit, how you breathe, how you respond when baited, what you say (and don't say) under pressure. Most attorneys aren't trained in high-conflict dynamics. We role-play the courtroom with you so you arrive calm and credible.
What does a typical prep session look like?
Sessions are 90 minutes via Zoom. We start with the specific hearing or mediation you're preparing for, identify the activating scenarios you'll face, build scripts and exits for each, then run real-time role-play with Michelle playing your ex or the opposing attorney. You leave with a hearing-day playbook.
Can you prepare me for mediation specifically?
Yes. Mediation prep focuses on disengagement under pressure, BIFF responses to bait, and protecting your boundaries when the mediator pushes for compromise on issues that matter. We rehearse the exact dynamics common to high-conflict mediation.
How many sessions do I need before a hearing?
Most clients do 1-3 sessions before a major hearing. Trials and contested custody evaluations often need 4-8 sessions across several weeks. Book at least 2 weeks before the hearing date if possible.
